To celebrate their 25th anniversary, OSB produced a beautiful night of opera hits with some of their past seasons' stars., including tenor Nathan Granner singing this (10 high C and one high D) memorable and fun aria.

Nathan Granner as The Magician, "a wildly successful tour de force"
    -Opera News

The Magician scene in Gian Carlo Menotti's horror tale of bureaucracy is a moment of slight mirth in the dire straits accompanying the opera characters. Real magic, comedic choreography and devilishly deceptive music make this scene a challenge and a reward for cast and audience alike.

Luckily for Romeo, Juliet's balcony is more than six feet off the ground, leaving tenor Nathan Granner free to profess his undying love. Nathan first charmed OSB audiences as Rodolfo in La bohème last season. Although our production of Romeo and Juliet cannot proceed, Nathan has graciously offered to serenade everyone at home with "Ah! lève-toi soleil".

  • Goodbye, Mr. Chips

    by Gordon Getty
Starring Nathan Granner as Mr. Chipping in a tour de force performance.

Getty’s fourth opera is based on the popular 1934 novella "Goodbye, Mr. Chips" and other stories by James Hilton. This film, directed by Brian Staufenbiel, represents the opera’s premiere. "Goodbye, Mr. Chips" tells the heart-warming story of a teacher at Brookfield, an all-boys English boarding school to which “Chips” dedicates most of his adult life.

The opera chronicles Chips’ story of love, loss and learning over his decades-long tenure at Brookfield. The film stars Nathan Granner in the titular role of Mr. Chips, Marnie Breckenridge singing Kathie and Linford, Lester Lynch as Merrivale, and Kevin Short as Ralston and Rivers. The orchestra is conducted by Nicole Paiement. Members of The Young People’s Chorus of New York City, conducted by Francisco J. Núñez, represent the boarding school’s students.
